BlizzCon has enjoyed tremendous success, hyping many of the fantastic titles from Blizzard and giving first-look previews of their upcoming games, so it would make sense that another popular franchise, perhaps the most popular franchise at the moment, Call of Duty, would announce plans for its own event. Revealed today, Call of Duty XP is a two-day convention that will be held in Los Angeles this September the 2nd and 3rd for fans of the franchise to experience a ton of Call of Duty-related and inspired content....

The DFEH’s case presents a long list of charges against Activision Blizzard, with the workplace being described as fostering a “pervasive frat boy culture,” in which women were subjected to various forms of sexual harassment, including fending off “unwanted sexual comments and advances” by male employees, being groped by male employees as they drunkenly embark on “cube crawls” across the office (moving between various cubicles in the office while inebriated), and being subject to jokes about rape and comments regarding male employee’s sexual partners....

A new report by the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy names Activision Blizzard as one of several companies that didn’t pay any tax in 2018. The company had an income of $447 million in 2018 - from the sale of its games and microtransactions such as Overwatch loot boxes - but wasn’t subject to any federal income tax. The report reveals that the company didn’t just avoid paying tax, but it was able to save $243 million in tax breaks....

Activision, working with internet brand protection company MarkMonitor, has apparently purchased several domains under the new game’s name. A few of the domains listed below indicate that Skylanders: Giants a full game and not just an expansion to Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, in the event that gamers were questioning what type of project this would be. The registrations are very recent though, starting on January 19, 2012, and it needs to be mentioned that none of the domains directly link to Activision....

Activision announced its break from Leach after sexist and hateful comments resurfaced from the voice actor. In 2017, Twitch streamer ZombiUnicorn turned down an offer to appear on a talk show where Leach would also be a guest. ZombiUnicorn was still mentioned in the show, with Leach making horrendous comments about the streamer’s body. His comments earned him a Twitch ban in 2017, but now more comments made by the voice actor are being shared....

According to comments made by the publisher to Game Informer, Activision has been forced to implement a round of layoffs, confirming previous reports that jobs were going to be lost. The publisher also seems to have a direct reason for the downturn, with both Skylanders and Guitar Hero not performing as expected in the company’s earnings call. Explaining that “the casual audience has not yet emerged on next-gen consoles,” this has unfortunately led to employees losing their jobs....

The piece was written by the Diversity Think Tank, a group founded this year by a professor at the university aiming to teach students to be “advocates of structural diversity in academic institutions,” among other things. The university shared a statement with Newsweek Tuesday saying the group has no affiliation with the school. “Some Black, White and Latino students shall join in another class action lawsuit if the next URI President is not an African-American with an ancestry to slavery,” reads the piece, published late last month in Uprise RI....

The site, known informally as George Floyd Square, sprang up organically in the days after Floyd’s death as people gathered to grieve. Eventually, artwork, flowers and other items were placed at the intersection of 38th street and Chicago Avenue where Floyd was killed at the hands of police officers last year. Jaylani Hussein, executive director of the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said that the removal of the memorial was an attack on Floyd’s legacy....

Sunrise Movement Tempe organized the event outside Sinema’s Phoenix office. Pictures and videos posted to social media showed participants in sleeping bags outside the senator’s building. “We, her constituents, have decided to take action by staying outside of her office to show that we are dedicated to creating good jobs while also protecting climate” Josie Mitz, Sunrise Tempe action lead, said in a statement. Unfortunately, while the Oscars represent the best of the best, the other side of the coin exists to acknowledge the supposed worst of the worst. The other side of this coin is known as the Raspberry Awards, or Razzies for short. Each year following the Oscars, the Razzies hand out its fair share of awards for the worst of the year’s movie performances. Shockingly enough, there are quite talented actors who have fallen on both sides of these spectrums....
