Activision Blizzard discussed its perspective toward the mobile gaming market as part of a recent quarterly earnings report. COO Daniel Alegre didn’t hold back in his vocal support of the mobile market, calling it the “ultimate driver of reach” due to a userbase of nearly 3 billion smartphones worldwide. As such, Activision Blizzard’s ongoing mobile expansion efforts are receiving significant financial investment, as well as hundreds of new mobile developers....

The $42 million paid is not part of any settlement, only back-pay and bonuses owed. But the attorney for the dismissed developers sees the payment as an admission that the defendants are in the right, and that the publisher’s actions continue to be, in a word, “outrageous.” This follows soon after speculation that the future setting of Black Ops 2 could be a breach of the agreement made between Infinity Ward and Activision, but the ongoing battle of words and attorneys is nothing new....

After disappointing sales of its arcade racing game Blur, the studio’s standing with Activision was brought into question. The game was suppose to be the first of many iterations, and even in the face of lackluster sales, Bizarre Creations continued to show confidence in the title and its franchise potential. Unfortunately, Activision no longer shares the same enthusiasm about the game or the studio’s future. The French office employed about 400 employees at the beginning of 2019, though that number decreased after Activision Blizzard cut 134 employees as part of its sweeping layoffs that took place the same year. While most would expect an impressive next-gen showing from the likes of Quantic Dream, DICE, and Kojima Production, I don’t think too many gamers expected to see Activision come out swinging. Even though all we have are a few screenshots from the presentation, the detailed facial animations are nonetheless impressive. There’s bound to be some debate over how this engine compares to some of its biggest competitors, but there’s no denying this is next-gen tech....

The successes that Activision is referring to are the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. The two trilogies were remastered by Vicarious Visions and Toys for Bob, two veteran studios that previously worked on the Skylanders franchise. Bennacer has signed a five-year contract at San Siro after his former club Arsenal were understood to have refused to take up an option to match the offer made by Milan. Allegri recently announced that he would leave Milan at the end of the 2013-14 campaign, but the club decided on Monday to relieve him right away following ongoing struggles this term.
