Actors Who Should Play Baldur

God of War 2018’s big bad, Baldur, makes a gigantic first impression, being one of the most memorable boss fights of all time. An assuming man with braided blond hair, Baldur could be played by countless actors, but there are a few that could really stand out. First up is Charlie Hunnam, a Northern English actor best known for his roles in Sons of Anarchy and The Gentlemen. From the get-go, Hunnam’s general appearance immediately resembles Baldur’s in-game model. On top of that, Hunnam’s demonstrated quite the range over the years, and he isn’t afraid to adapt to a part that’s capable of both intense anger and softer-spoken moments of vulnerability.

Actors Who Should Play Freya

One of God of War 2018’s most underrated characters, Freya technically counts as a Norse god, though she’s a Vanir and not an Aesir. One of the top picks for a live-action Freya is another Game of Thrones alum, Lena Headey. Playing Cersei Lannister for over seven years, audiences have already seen Lena Headey steal the show countless times, and Headey could carry that same expertise to Freya, another strong woman who has a soft spot for her children.

Another great choice for Freya would be Eva Green, perhaps best known for her role as Vespa in Casino Royale. Eva Green has a bit of a history of playing characters that are quite soft-spoken and calm on the surface, but are capable of unleashing some real anger when they’ve been pushed. Mission Impossible’s Rebecca Ferguson would also be an excellent choice for God of War’s Freya, demonstrating her versatility throughout her career.

Actors Who Should Play Magni and Modi

Though they’re not in God of War for too long, Thor’s sons Magni and Modi have a strong on-screen presence when they are there, and the live-action series should make sure its version of the characters stand out just as much. While they don’t quite look the part, it could be fun to see Troy Baker and Nolan North return as the duo but in live-action form. Alternatively, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’s Cameron Monaghan could make for a good Modi, while Vikings’ Travis Fimmel could make an excellent older brother Magni.
