Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse will be published by Activision, though this should come as no surprise seeing as a new Family Guy game was revealed to be in development by the publisher during an investor’s meeting last year. In the time since the announcement in February 2011, there hasn’t been much news on the title.
The listing also provided a release date for the game, which sees it land on September 25th of this year. As for plot details, there isn’t much to go by, though the game’s title does offer some clues. The eighth season of Family Guy began with an episode titled “Road to the Multiverse,” wherein main characters Brian and Stewie were able to travel to different universes that each presented their own twist on “reality.” It made for an intriguing episode, so it’s no surprise the overall concept is the basis for a video game.
Activision has dabbled in the Multiverse concept before, with Beenox’s Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions - a game that saw Peter Parker as four different Spider-Men in four different universes. Considering their track record with the Multiverse, it wouldn’t be difficult to see Beenox as the developer.
In any case, we’ll have to wait until Activision announces something to get the full scoop on the game.. Let’s just hope Back to the Multiverse is at least as good as the older Family Guy episodes. And focuses heavily on the Disney universe-styled versions of the characters.
Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse will release September 25th, 2012 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
