Shutting down the online servers for a game not only renders its online component forever unplayable, but it also means that players can no longer unlock any achievements or trophies tied to those online game modes. While more modern releases have started to restrict their achievement list to just single-player objectives, that’s not the case for Xbox 360 and PS3-era titles, and Epic Games is about to shut down the online servers to a good few of them.

Rock Band 1-3, Green Day and Beatles
After developing the first two Guitar Hero games, Harmonix decided to leave that brand behind, and start a brand new rhythm game franchise. Introducing drums, vocals, and bass, Rock Band was a natural and innovative next step for the developer. Though Rock Band would go on to be in direct competition with the Guitar Hero series, it would continue to stand out for its more complex and authentic approach to rhythm-based gameplay. Unfortunately, Epic Games is shutting down the servers for the first three Rock Band games, as well as the Green Day and Beatles spinoffs, and there are a few trophies fans might want to get before that happens.
Rock Band:
Riding on Coattails - Play with a “Platinum Artist” Tug of War Champ - Win 20 Tug of War ranked matches Score Duel Champ - Win 20 Score Duel ranked matches
Rock Band 2:
Victory! - Defeat a player in either Score Duel or Tug of War. Comeback Kid - Defeat the last player that defeated you over Xbox LIVE in either Score Duel or Tug of War.
Rock Band 3:
Well Connected - Connect your Rock Band 3 Band with rockband. com at http://www. rockband. com.
The online achievement list for the Rock Band series isn’t too daunting. Neither Beatles: Rock Band nor Green Day: Rock Band have any form of online achievements, so fans don’t need to worry about their online servers being shut down. Rock Band 1, 2 and 3, on the other hand, do have a few online-only achievements. Rock Band 1’s achievements are by far the hardest, with it being nearly impossible to find, let alone win 20 matches of both Tug of War and Score Duel. Unfortunately, Rock Band 3’s “Well Connected” achievement is no longer attainable, as the website has been revised.
Unreal Franchise
One of the leading first-person shooter franchises of the late 1990s and early 2000s, Epic Games is also shutting down the online servers for a selection of Unreal games. Used to showcase just how powerful each iteration of the Unreal Engine has been, the Unreal franchise is split into single-player-focused Unreal games, and multiplayer-focused Unreal Tournament titles. Naturally, it’s the Unreal Tournament series that has all of the online achievements.
Unreal Tournament 3:
Brain Surgeon - Get the “Head Hunter” award in 10 matches Jack of All Trades - Kill an enemy with every vehicle (except hoverboard) Deathwish - Get “Bullseye” (self-destruct to destroy an enemy) award in 20 matches Seeing Red - Have over 20 minutes of “Berserk Time” Hat Trick - Achieve a Hat Trick in 10 CTF or VCTF matches Being a Hero - Return 100 Orbs in Warfare matches Sir Slays a Lot - Get the “Monster Kill” award in 20 matches Killjoy - End sprees in 20 matches Off to a Good Start - Get the “First Blood” award in 40 matches Let’s get it on - Complete a multiplayer match in every game type Around the World - Win a multiplayer match on every map Get a Life - Get 200 kills in multiplayer on 50 different days Ranked Champion - Win 500 Ranked matches
The only game in the Unreal franchise that has online achievements is Unreal Tournament 3, but unfortunately, there are some pretty impossible commendations in its list. Even the easiest achievements in Unreal Tournament 3 require players to earn a multitude of awards or kills in matches, requiring quite a bit of play-time. Then there are the near-impossible achievements, like getting 200 kills on 50 different days. Luckily, Epic Games is planning on bringing back the online servers for Unreal Tournament 3 at a later date, so players will still have time to get all of its online-only trophies.
