Now, after almost a year of being available for PC players, Inscryption is coming to PlayStation 4 and 5 owners. A pre-order package for the game is currently live on the PlayStation Store, confirming a launch price of $17.99, which includes a 10 percent discount for PlayStation Plus members. According to the store page, Inscryption launches on August 30 for PS4 and PS5, just before another big hit comes to the PlayStation 5 in the form of The Last of Us Part 1.

It isn’t currently known whether Inscryption’s PlayStation release will come with any new features, but many are simply happy to see that such a well-reviewed game will be making it to Sony platforms. As stated, Inscryption was widely praised for the way it toys with the player throughout, first appearing as a simple card game before including fourth wall breaks, a meta story, and more that gave the indie title an extra level of tension to its horror.
Considering Inscryption’s developer had previously worked on Pony Island, another game that at first appears innocent while hiding dark secrets, perhaps some of the deck-building roguelike’s twists should have been expected. However, Inscryption’s complexity is regarded as going beyond a simple twist that the game is much darker than first expected, and its meta elements tell the story of a would-be YouTuber attempting to show off an unreleased version of a card game that holds a dark secret, moving Inscryption through retro styles and genres.
Given the success of Inscryption, multiple fans have been asking for a sequel to the award-winning game, seeing it as a unique take on card games and roguelikes. Though, with Inscryption first releasing in 2021, and with the PlayStation version on the verge of coming out, it may be some time before this award-winning indie hit sees a sequel.
Inscryption is available now for PC. It will release on PS4 and PS5 on August 30, 2022
